MOROCCO
Morocco is a North African country with coastlines along both the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. We happened to visit during the World Cup, and it quickly became clear how passionate Moroccans are about football. Everywhere we went – every town, every corner of the country, were either playing football or gathered around a screen watching the matches.
It was an unforgettable experience. Groups of people watched the games in shops, homes, resorts and everywhere. We often joined them, and they always welcomed us warmly, offering us free green tea. Hot mint tea served in small glasses is the traditional way of welcoming guests in Morocco. Even though it was very hot in early July, we were always greeted with steaming mint tea, and we never quite mastered the art of holding those tiny glasses without burning our fingers!
Morocco is a country rich in culture and history, and we were also amazed by how many people spoke multiple languages. Many Moroccans switch effortlessly between Arabic, French, Spanish, and English. Please click the links below to explore more of what Morocco has to offer.
