Aiguille du Midi Tickets & Best Time to Visit – Chamonix Cable Car Guide – Where to Stay
Aiguille du Midi
The Aiguille du Midi cable car was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Chamonix and easily one of the best we’ve experienced anywhere in the world. Standing at 3,842 metres, it’s one of the highest accessible peaks in the French Alps, and the views of Mont Blanc from the top are honestly something you don’t forget.
From the moment we stepped into the cable car, the experience felt more like an adventure than just a way to get to the top. The journey involves two cable car rides and an elevator, and with each stage, the views just kept getting more dramatic.
As we made our way higher, the landscape e landscape became more dramatic, and by the time we reached the summit, we were surrounded by panoramic views stretching across the French, Swiss, and Italian Alps. It’s one of those places where you just stop and take it all in.
One of the highlights for us was taking the Panoramic Mont-Blanc gondola from the summit over to Pointe Helbronner in Italy. What made it even more special was that this was our first time crossing an international border on a gondola. It’s not something you get to experience often, and gliding between two countries while surrounded by glaciers and towering peaks felt incredible.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through what the experience is really like, what to expect at each stage, and whether it’s actually worth adding to your trip to Chamonix.
If you’re planning your visit, I’ve put together a detailed guide to our full Aiguille du Midi experience, including everything we learned along the way.
Where we stayed
We stayed at Hôtel de L’Arve by HappyCulture, which was a great base for exploring Chamonix. One of the biggest advantages was its location, it is just a short walk from the Aiguille du Midi ticket office, making it convenient for early cable car departures and avoiding unnecessary travel in the morning.

Gondola – Mont Blanc panaromic
–Tickets for Mont Blanc Panaromic Gondola Ride
Mont Blanc Panoramic tickets are purchased after you exit the second cable car at Aiguille du Midi. You can buy them in advance, but the ride is weather-dependent, so many tours do not include these tickets because they cannot guarantee access. Even when you’re already at Aiguille du Midi, the Mont Blanc Panoramic may close if weather turns windy.
